Cologne Bonn Airport: Take the SB60 Airport Express directly to Bonn Hbf: about 25 minutes, every 30 minutes. The evidence package lists the 2026 fare as the €5.50 local fare plus a €2.50 airport supplement (roughly €8); it is the sensible direct transfer, not a taxi. Late arrivals are less troublesome here than at many German airports because CGN has no night-flight restriction. RB26 serves the airport only hourly at night; RB27 is useful for Bonn-Beuel, not central Bonn.
Bonn Hauptbahnhof: This is the useful central arrival point for regional trains and the hub for Bonn’s Stadtbahn. It is the best station for the old centre, Beethoven sites, the university and Südstadt—all walkable from here. RE5 links Bonn with Cologne, Düsseldorf and Koblenz; the slower left-Rhine route is more scenic than the high-speed line.
Siegburg/Bonn ICE station: Most ICEs use this station rather than Bonn Hbf. Take Stadtbahn line 66 to Bonn centre/Bonn Hbf: roughly 25 minutes. Do not mistake Siegburg/Bonn for a central Bonn station; it is across the Rhine in neighbouring Siegburg. From Frankfurt Airport, ICE to Siegburg takes about 38–51 minutes, then add the tram transfer.
Bonn-Beuel: Useful if you arrive on RB27 or RE8, or are staying on the right bank. From Beuel, cross the Kennedy Bridge on foot, by bike or via the Stadtbahn/bus network for the centre; it is not the best arrival station for most first-time visitors.
