Los Angeles International Airport: The actually good choice for most arrivals is a rideshare or taxi direct to San Pedro: roughly 35–70 minutes depending on freeway traffic, commonly about $45–90 before tip/surge. Transit is possible but not elegant: Metro 232 from LAX, then transfer to Metro 205 at Western Avenue or 246 at Gaffey Street; allow about 1½–2 hours and check the schedule. Do not buy a “harbor transfer” package—this is Los Angeles, not San Pedro, Belize.
Long Beach Airport: Usually the easiest airport if the fare works: rideshare/taxi to San Pedro takes roughly 25–40 minutes and often costs about $35–60 before tip/surge. Public transit is slow and transfer-heavy, so it is not a sensible choice with luggage.
Los Angeles Union Station: There is no rail line into San Pedro. For a car-free trip, use the Metro J Line (formerly Silver Line) toward the Harbor Gateway area, then connect onward by local bus; service patterns do not all run to San Pedro, so verify the specific trip. Allow around 1½–2 hours. In practice, rideshare from Downtown/Union Station is far quicker—about 35–60 minutes without major traffic, much longer at rush hour.
