BestGoodFairPoorClosedCrowds (quiet → packed)Apr–May and Sep–Oct: comfortable air, warm water, and the best all-round countryside conditions. · Also: Jan–Feb: cold-air steam makes the 35–37°C pools especially atmospheric.
Day
Weekdays, especially outside Italian public-holiday weekends.
Time
Sunrise to 9 am for steam, photographs, easier parking, and a quieter soak. · Late afternoon to sunset in summer for cooler air and attractive light; leave before darkness because the site is unlit.
Avoid
Postpone for thunderstorms or heavy rain, intense summer heat, unsafe winter changing conditions, or after dark on slippery unlit rock.

Pools & baths
Cascate del Mulino / Cascate del Gorello natural thermal pools
35–37 °C · Natural, shallow stepped travertine pools on the Gorello stream; temperatures vary by position, weather and mixing downstream. The Saturnia source is 37.5 °C but is not at the public cascades.
Rules
No nudist area; ordinary swimwear is appropriate. No published tattoo policy. No published requirement to shower before entering. No published phone or photography ban; keep devices secure and respect other bathers’ privacy. Water shoes are strongly advised: the routes and pool bottom can be steep and slippery. Smoking is permitted outdoors; fires and barbecues are prohibited.
Booking
No booking, timed entry, ticket release or capacity reservation is required for the free natural pools; they are freely accessible 24 hours a day. They cannot sell out, but parking and comfortable pool space fill up, particularly on weekends and from June to September. For the optional seasonal Il Molino del Bagno furnished relaxation area, buy on site subject to availability; no advance-slot system is published.
Age limits
No published age limit or child-only hours for the natural pools. Thermal bathing is generally not recommended for children under 2; children require close hands-on supervision because rocks are slippery, water flows, and depths vary.
Bring: Swimsuit · Towel · Dry underwear and clothes · Sturdy flip-flops or water shoes / aqua shoes for slippery travertine and uneven footing (strongly advised) — https://www.cascate-del-mulino.it/en/ · Drinking water · Sunscreen · Waterproof bag · Small bag for wet gear
