Downtown Nassau and the Historic Hill
Short stop · 1–1.5 days
The part of New Providence that feels like an actual capital, not a resort campus: Parliament Square, Queen’s Staircase, Fort Fincastle, West Hill Street and the National Art Gallery. Go early, before cruise-port crowds make Bay Street tedious.
Paradise Island
Short stop · 1 day
Atlantis, Aquaventure, Marina Village and Cabbage Beach make this the island’s high-energy resort zone. Worth it for families and a full water-park day; less so if your idea of the Bahamas is quiet beaches and independent restaurants.
Cable Beach and Baha Mar
Base · 1.5–2 days
The most practical beach base: a long generally calmer shore, major hotels, dining and easy taxi access to downtown and the Fish Fry. It is resort-strip Nassau, but a better all-round base than being sealed inside Atlantis.
Arawak Cay / Fish Fry
Short stop · 1 day
Come for made-to-order conch salad, cracked conch, fried fish and a Kalik rather than polished service. It is tourist-facing, but still the essential casual food stop on New Providence.
Nassau Cruise Port and Junkanoo Beach
Short stop · 0.5 days
Convenient waterfront territory for an arrival-day walk, a quick city swim and Junkanoo access. Treat it as useful rather than idyllic: this is the island’s busiest and most commercial beach zone.
Sandyport, Old Fort Bay and Love Beach
Short stop · 1 day
The quieter, low-rise northwest coast has villa stays, marina restaurants and a more relaxed beach rhythm than Cable Beach. Love Beach is the pick when you want sand and sunset without the central resort churn.
Clifton Heritage National Park and Coral Harbour
Short stop · 1 day
New Providence’s strongest combination of coastal scenery, Lucayan and plantation-era history, and snorkeling. Give it a proper half or full day with a car or driver; it is too far from the hotel strip to treat as a casual add-on.
Blue Lagoon Island and Rose Island
Short stop · 1 day
The straightforward offshore escape for clear water without changing islands. Choose Blue Lagoon for an easy packaged beach day and Rose Island for boat-and-snorkel time; neither is a substitute for an independent Out Island stay.
Gambier and the Far West
Short stop · 1 day
A local-scale stretch beyond the airport, with less resort density and more of the island’s everyday texture. Best explored with your own car or a driver, not as a taxi-dependent evening destination.
Fox Hill, Yamacraw and the Eastern Shore
Short stop · 1 day
This residential eastern side offers deeper local identity, old settlements and marina access rather than headline sights. It earns a day only if you have time, transport and curiosity beyond the standard Nassau circuit.
Three-night Nassau sampler
3 nightsCable Beach and Baha Mar (1.5 days) → Downtown Nassau and the Historic Hill (1 day) → Arawak Cay / Fish Fry (1 evening) → Blue Lagoon Island and Rose Island (1 day)
For a first visit with little patience for hotel moves. Base at Cable Beach, give downtown a proper morning and afternoon, eat at the Fish Fry, then choose one easy boat day—Blue Lagoon for simple logistics, Rose Island for snorkeling.

5 nightsCable Beach and Baha Mar (1.5 days) → Downtown Nassau and the Historic Hill (1 day) → Arawak Cay / Fish Fry (1 evening) → Blue Lagoon Island and Rose Island (1 day) → Paradise Island (1 day) → Sandyport, Old Fort Bay and Love Beach (1 day)
The sensible all-round New Providence trip: culture and conch in Nassau, one offshore day, one unapologetically resort-heavy Paradise Island day, and a quieter beach-and-sunset day west of Cable Beach. Stay in one Cable Beach hotel unless Atlantis is the main event.

7 nightsDowntown Nassau and the Historic Hill (1 day) → Arawak Cay / Fish Fry (1 evening) → Cable Beach and Baha Mar (2 days) → Blue Lagoon Island and Rose Island (1 day) → Sandyport, Old Fort Bay and Love Beach (1 day) → Clifton Heritage National Park and Coral Harbour (1 day) → Gambier and the Far West (1 day)
For travelers who want New Providence beyond Atlantis. Use Cable Beach as the practical base, then take a car or driver for the western side: Clifton deserves real time, while Love Beach, Gambier and Sandyport work best at an unhurried pace. This route has enough slack for weather to disrupt the boat day.

9 nightsDowntown Nassau and the Historic Hill (1.5 days) → Nassau Cruise Port and Junkanoo Beach (0.5 day) → Arawak Cay / Fish Fry (1 evening) → Cable Beach and Baha Mar (2 days) → Blue Lagoon Island and Rose Island (1 day) → Paradise Island (1 day) → Clifton Heritage National Park and Coral Harbour (1 day) → Fox Hill, Yamacraw and the Eastern Shore (1 day) → Sandyport, Old Fort Bay and Love Beach (1 day)
For repeat visitors or anyone determined not to reduce Nassau to Bay Street and Atlantis. It adds the residential east and a proper southwest day, while retaining two flexible beach days at Cable Beach. Book boat plans early in the stay, leaving room to reschedule around weather.
